Sessions and Devices

Learn how we manage sessions and devices used to access your Online Services account.

What is a Session?

A session begins when you access Online Services using your credentials and remains active until you sign out, the session expires, or we terminate it for security purposes.

We may use certain information about your session and device, such as device type, browser, IP address, approximate location, and other technical information, to protect your account, prevent unauthorized access, and detect unusual activity.

When may we terminate a Session?

We may terminate one or more active sessions when we reasonably consider it necessary to protect your account, your operations, or our systems. This may occur, for example, after a password change, in response to unusual activity, when your permissions change, or when there is a risk of unauthorized access.

We may also require you to sign in again or complete an additional authentication or verification method.

What should I do when using a shared or public device?

If you access Online Services from a shared or public device, you should sign out when you are finished and avoid saving your password or other authentication credentials on that device.

If you suspect that a session remains active on a device you no longer control, change your password and contact us through our Customer Service Center.
