Our Role in Your Services

Learn how the role of an ARL Freight Company operating company may vary depending on the service you request and the terms that apply to it.

What role does ARL Freight Company® have in my service?

The role of the ARL Freight Company® operating company involved in your service may vary depending on the type of service requested, the applicable agreement, the location where the service is provided, and other relevant circumstances.

Depending on the service, an operating company may provide services directly, arrange or coordinate services performed by third parties, or perform other activities described in the applicable agreement or service documentation.

The use of the ARL Freight Company® brand does not, by itself, determine the legal or contractual role of the operating company involved in a particular service.

Does ARL Freight Company® always perform transportation directly?

Not necessarily. Certain transportation services may be performed by independent motor carriers or other transportation providers selected or engaged to perform all or part of the transportation.

In other circumstances, an ARL Freight Company® operating company may perform transportation directly when it is authorized and equipped to do so.

The applicable agreement and service documentation determine the role and responsibilities of the parties for a particular service.

When do we use third parties to perform or support services?

Depending on your service requirements, the applicable ARL Freight Company® operating company may engage independent third parties, including motor carriers and other transportation, logistics, or service providers, to perform or support certain activities.

The applicable ARL Freight Company® operating company remains responsible for the services provided to you, even when it engages independent third parties to perform or support certain activities. The involvement of a third party does not transfer the operating company’s responsibilities to that third party or establish a direct contractual relationship between you and the third party, unless otherwise expressly agreed.

Independent third parties may remain responsible to the applicable operating company for the activities they perform and may be subject to their own legal, regulatory, operational, or contractual obligations.

Unless otherwise expressly stated in the applicable terms, the involvement of a third party does not make that party an employee, agent, legal representative, or operating company of ARL Freight Company®.

How do I know what role applies to my service?

Your agreement, terms and conditions, service confirmation, transportation documentation, or other applicable records may identify the ARL Freight Company® operating company involved and describe its role in the service.

You should review the terms applicable to the specific service rather than rely solely on the ARL Freight Company® name or brand to determine which company is involved or the capacity in which it acts.

If you have questions about the role applicable to a particular service, contact us through our Customer Service Center.
