What is Full Truckload (FTL)?
Full Truckload (FTL) is a transportation service in which a truck or other transportation equipment is assigned to move a shipment from its origin to its destination.
FTL service is generally suitable for shipments that require dedicated equipment, occupy a substantial portion of the available capacity, or need to move directly between locations without consolidation with other customers’ shipments.
The specific equipment, route, and operating conditions will depend on the characteristics of your shipment and the service confirmed by us.
Where is FTL service available?
Our FTL service is available on selected routes within Mexico and the United States, as well as for certain cross-border shipments between Mexico and the United States.
Availability depends on factors such as origin and destination, equipment requirements, cargo characteristics, carrier capacity, applicable legal or regulatory requirements, and other operational conditions.
The fact that we offer FTL service in a particular country or region does not guarantee availability for every route or shipment.
What equipment is available?
Depending on your shipment and availability, we may arrange different types of transportation equipment.
The equipment assigned to your shipment will depend on factors such as the type of cargo, weight, dimensions, loading requirements, origin and destination, and any special requirements communicated to and accepted by us.
If your shipment requires specific equipment or characteristics, you must provide this information when requesting the service.
What information do I need to request FTL Service?
To evaluate and arrange an FTL shipment, we may ask you to provide information such as:
Pickup and delivery locations.
Requested pickup and delivery dates or times.
Type and description of the cargo.
Number of units, pallets, packages, or other shipping units.
Weight and dimensions.
Required equipment.
Loading and unloading requirements.
Special handling or operating requirements.
Any other information necessary to evaluate or perform the service.
You are responsible for providing accurate and complete information about your shipment. Changes or inaccuracies in the information provided may affect availability, transit times, equipment requirements, or the applicable rate.
Does requesting FTL Service guarantee that it will be provided?
No. A request, quote, or submission of shipment information does not, by itself, mean that the service has been accepted or confirmed.
FTL service remains subject to availability, operational review, applicable requirements, and our confirmation of the service.
When applicable, we may also require you to accept a quote, rate, service confirmation, or additional terms before the shipment is considered confirmed.
Who is responsible for providing my FTL Service?
Your FTL service is provided under the responsibility of the applicable ARL Freight Company® operating company identified in your agreement, service confirmation, invoice, or other applicable service documentation.
The operating company may use independent motor carriers or other service providers to perform or support transportation activities. The applicable operating company remains responsible to you for the service it provides, even when an independent third party performs or supports certain activities, subject to the terms and conditions applicable to your service.
Can FTL Shipments be subject to additional requirements?
Yes. Certain shipments may require additional information, documentation, equipment, approvals, permits, security measures, or operating conditions based on the cargo, route, value, dimensions, weight, or applicable laws and regulations.
We may decline or condition a service when the shipment does not meet applicable requirements or when we reasonably determine that we cannot safely, legally, or operationally provide the requested service.
For cargo subject to specific restrictions or requirements, see Service and Cargo Restrictions.
How do I request FTL Service?
You may request FTL service through your authorized Online Services account or through another channel made available by us.
Submitting a request does not guarantee acceptance or availability. We will confirm the service once the applicable operational and commercial requirements have been satisfied.
For information about electronic requests submitted through your account, see Electronic Instructions and Transactions.
